The Science Behind Brainwaves & Music
SOUND CREATES A VIBRATION THAT SHIFTS THE FREQUENCY OF OUR BRAINWAVE .
The sound literally syncs with our brainwaves to the frequency it is vibrating to. Our daily experiences and our brainwaves are connected - there is never a separation.
FOR EXAMPLE: If a fast sound vibration is created, the brainwaves increase. When you walk into that crowded airport during the holidays and you feel ‘highly agitated’, it's because of all the noise around you, and it's effecting what's happening in your head.
THE OPPOSITEIS TRUE TO...
When a slow sound vibration is created, the brainwaves slow down. When you walk through the calm and peaceful park and you feel more relaxed, and a sense of calmness, it is your brainwaves slowing down to a slower frequency.
WHAT ARE OUR BRAINWAVES? WHAT DO THEY MEAN? WHAT CAN I DO ABOUT IT
OUR NATURAL AWAKE STATE IS BETA
Often BETA brainwaves are associated with a ‘frenzy, to do list’ awake state. Using tools such as listening to SOUND HEALING will create a slower vibration and recalibrate your brainwaves to ALPHA, a more relaxed state of consciousness. As your brainwaves continue to slow in vibration, the THETA brainwave can be reached which is meditative. It is from here that you are able to reach a much deeper and slower vibration of the DELTA brainwave, which represents sleep state, where profound healing can take place.
When your brainwaves are out of balance, there will be corresponding problems in your emotional or physical health. Research has identified brainwave patterns associated with all sorts of emotional and neurological and physical conditions.
BY RULE OF THUMB, ANY PROCESS THAT CHANGES YOUR PERCEPTION CHANGES YOUR BRAINWAVES.
The brain does not operate in just one single frequency; the full spectrum of brainwave frequencies are always running, all the time. The dominant frequency determines our mental state – and your activities briefly shift your mental state by boosting one frequency to be louder than another.
BRAINWAVES SPEED IS MEASURED IN HERTZ (CYCLES PER SECONDS) and they are divided into bands delineating slow, moderate, and fast waves; just like music. Music is measured in Hertz.
During slower brainwave states, the nervous system naturally becomes balanced as the overactive sympathetic nervous system (fight & flight) relaxes through deep breathing. It is during these slower frequencies that the under-active parasympathetic nervous system (rest & digest) is strengthened and nourished.
WITH REPETITIVE EXPOSURE TO SOUND HEALING, the neuroplasticity in your brain, can learn new behavioral patterns and create permanent body and lifestyle changes for optimum health and well-being. Neuroplasticity - brain plasticity and neural plasticity, is the ability of the brain to change – yes your grey matter can change and your synapses can strengthen or weaken.
